Silvana and Saied, They Had Me Smiling Behind the Camera
An engagement shoot in London full of golden light, iconic corners and real connection — the kind of day that had me smiling behind the camera the whole way through.
Some shoots you work through. This one, I just kept smiling the whole way through.
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Silvana and Saied's engagement shoot in London, and honestly, it's rare to feel this much warmth radiating off two people. As a documentary wedding and engagement photographer, I spend most of my time watching for real connection over posed perfection, and these two gave me so much of it, I barely had to look for it.

A London Engagement Shoot Full of Golden Light
We spent the day moving through London, chasing light, ducking into iconic little corners of the city, and just letting Silvana and Saied be exactly who they are together. London is one of my favourite places to shoot engagement photography, the mix of architecture, greenery, and unexpected pockets of light means every hour of the day gives you something different to work with.
At one point in the shoot, the light dipped low and gold, and I got underneath them looking straight up as they leaned in for a kiss, sky behind them, nothing else in frame but the two of them. It's one of those angles that only works because two people completely forget the camera exists, and that's exactly what happened here.

The Moment I Couldn't Stop Smiling
There's a photo from this shoot of Saied gently cupping Silvana's face, her eyes lit up, laughing mid moment in the London sunlight, surrounded by soft greenery. I remember taking this one and just grinning behind my camera, because you can't fake that kind of look. That's not a pose, that's just what happens when someone is completely, unmistakably in love with the person in front of them.
This is exactly why I shoot documentary style engagement photography instead of directing every single frame. The real magic isn't in a perfect stance or a rehearsed smile, it's in the tiny, unscripted seconds in between.

A Shoot Full of Iconic London Moments
Silvana and Saied's engagement shoot wasn't just about the portraits, it was about the whole experience of the day. We ducked into a classic London phone booth for a proper iconic shot, wandered through quiet courtyards, and even squeezed in a cheeky photo booth moment because why not, some of the best engagement photos come from the parts of the day that aren't even meant to be "the shoot."
That's what I love about engagement sessions in London specifically, the city gives you so many layers, grand architecture one minute, a tucked away garden the next, a bright red phone box around the corner. Every location told a different part of their story.

Why I Loved Shooting This Couple
I say this often, but it's always true, the couples who are the easiest to photograph are the ones who are just genuinely, obviously happy to be near each other. Silvana and Saied didn't need much direction from me at all. I just followed them around London, watched the way they kept finding each other's eyes, and captured it.
If you're planning an engagement shoot in London and want a photographer who's more interested in your real connection than a stiff, perfectly symmetrical pose, I'd love to hear from you. Days like this one are exactly why I love this job.
With love,
Cami
